My heartfelt condolences for this great loss.
While the day trip documented on the attached photographs from 2003 has slipped from my memory, I still fondly think back to the many hikes our families took together in the following years throughout my childhood. I still remember Pete’s cheerful nature and always enjoyed his company. After moving to Germany at 11 years old and reconnecting, it was wonderfully reassuring to see familiar faces and bond over our shared love for Hong Kong. Even though I was still a child, I deeply appreciated how much Pete made me feel taken seriously as a person, without sacrificing his playfulness and irony.
It was a privilege to have met Pete. Even in the short time we spent together, it is clear to me that I can only begin to imagine just how deeply he will be missed by his community.
