It is sad indeed to learn of Pete's passing. Ingrid was my German lecturer back in the uni days and that was how I came to know Pete. Those were the days - the best time of Hong Kong. Then life events sent us to different parts of the world. Ingrid and Pete retired to Germany and I settled in Tasmania in 2005 (half a world apart).
I had a terrible car accident in 2011. It took me years to rehabilitate. Pete had his accident in 2014. I managed to meet Pete again in person in 2022 at his care home in Germany. We had not seen each other for 20 years! He was so positive and still cared about what's happening in the world. It was so nice to be able to chat again - about everything, what happened to us, to our families, to friends and the world. Of course we talked a lot about Hong Kong. His positive attitude towards life was admirable despite the tough challenges he faced.
He is sorely missed.
